    Dynamics of complex fluids at liquid-solid interfaces

    In this thesis the dynamics of complex fluids in thin channels in the presence of flow is studied. To do so, two kinds of complex fluids are considered: suspensions of hard as well as soft particles. The transport process is described taking into account direct as well as hydrodynamic interactions and the surface confinement. The steady state transport in a simplified model system of two particles diffusing through a two-dimensional narrow channel was analyzed in detail numerically using finite element methods.
