Approach and realization of a multi-tenant service composition engine
    (2013) Hahn, Michael
The support of multi-tenancy is an essential requirement to leverage the full extent of Cloud computing. Multi-tenancy enables service providers to maximize the utilization of their infrastructure and to reduce the servicing costs per customer. With regard to the fact that nowadays new applications or services are often composed out of multiple existing services or applications, a middleware is required which enables these compositions. A Service Composition Engine (SCE) provides the required functionality to enable the definition and execution of service compositions. In this diploma thesis we investigate the requirements and define an abstract architecture for the realization of a multi-tenant SCE. This architecture is prototypically realized with an open-source SCE and integrated into an existing multi-tenant aware ESB. The resulting middleware provides configurability for service compositions, tenant-aware messaging and tenant-based administration and management of the SCE and the ESB.

    REST Testbed
    (2013) Eisenbraun, Nick

Concept and implementation of a pluggable framework for storage, transformation, and analysis of large-scale enterprise topology graphs
    (2013) Todenhagen, Hannes
The addition of on-demand cloud computing offerings increases the complexity of IT systems rapidly. Enterprise Topology Graphs depict all the components of enterprise IT and their relations, to regain insight into enterprise IT. The focus of this work is the research, design and implementation of a framework to store and manage these graphs in an efficient way. The difficulties are the enormous graph sizes and a lot of meta information, leading to a complex design to offer a good performing solution. The framework is based on a graph database to store the Enterprise Topology Graph efficiently and offers a pluggable architecture to be able to extend the functionality, e.g. with transformation operations the graphs. With the reference implementation of this framework, the complex structures of enterprise IT systems can be stored, managed and easily manipulated to gain a more detailed view on the IT components and their dependencies.

Enabling integration and aggregation of context information into WS-BPEL processes
    (2011) Hagin, Rodion
Previously, techniques of Context-Aware Computing were limited only to small scale monolithic applications due to the lack of standardized technologies which could support interoperability of services owned by different organizations. The advancement in Service-Oriented Computing technology allowed autonomous and heterogeneous applications to be exposed as Web Services and interconnected into service compositions exploiting well-agreed interfaces, protocols and message formats. The Web Service Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) is the de-facto standard for composing reusable Web services. To enable handling of context information in applications, context information has to be made available within service compositions; hence, integrated in WS-BPEL processes. Through this means, new innovative context-enriched services can be built and provided using the convergence of context-aware computing and workflow technology. In this diploma thesis, context information provided by the C-CAST Context Management Framework and Google Maps Web services, is integrated into WS-BPEL, and business modelers are supported with the creation of context-based compositions. After surveying some of the current best practice and relevant literature in this area, this thesis presents a solution to this problem based on the Integration Process Pattern work previously done at the Institute of Architecture of Application Systems at the University of Stuttgart

Investigating the virtual representation of human resources
    (2015) Canko, Mert
Despite all the advancements of software technologies to increase the productivity of companies, their capabilities to find solutions for certain problem domains are still limited. For the purpose of collaboratively addressing problems, which cannot be solved by algorithms alone, humans as computational units that are connected in a network of hardware and software resources, are therefore becoming increasingly popular. In this diploma thesis we investigate virtual representations of human resources by analyzing properties of scientific work in the areas of human computation and by examining available sources of information, especially social networks like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, XING and GitHub. To comprise both the academic requirements and the offered data from the market products, which according to our comparison substantially differ, we present our concept of a virtual human resource representation. It provides thirteen categories of more than 150 definable attributes to create a basis for the representation of human resources in virtual environments that support collaborative work and business-related processes. Furthermore we show how to access human information using the example of Google+ and how to save this information as a virtual human web ontology instance to be potentially used in web based environments.

Enabling the compatible evolution of services based on a cloud-enabled ESB solution
    (2013) Lie, Sumadi
Software services are susceptible to changes because of the rapid growth and challenges in business environment. Business operations offered by service providers have to able to cope with various and countless service demands from service consumers. Such a case could also be experienced in cloud environment. As cloud platform, the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) platform allows application developers as tenants to deploy and configure their service artifacts in cloud infrastructure. A multi-tenant aware Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) as applications integrator is introduced to serve tenants in terms of management and administration. The purpose is to ensure data isolation between tenants. The goal of this diploma thesis is to extend an open source multi-tenant aware ESB with service version control management framework so that the ESB can facilitate the version management of service providers and consumers in a transparent manner, and ensure service compatibility among tenants. The extension can be further decomposed in terms of management and administration, as well as message flows in versions inside the multi-tenant ESB.

Extending an open source enterprise service bus for multi-tenancy support focusing on administration and management
    (2012) Muhler, Dominik
As part of cloud computing, the service model Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) has emerged, where customers can develop and host internet-scale applications on cloud infrastructure. The Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is one possible building block of a PaaS offering, providing integration capabilities for service-oriented architectures. Bringing the ESB to the cloud requires scalability and multi-tenancy support. When applied, these characteristics lead to economies of scale, reducing the costs per customer. In this diploma thesis we specify, design, and implement a multi-tenant management application for an existing open source ESB. The management application grants tenant users limited configuration access to the ESB’s connectivity and integration services. A tenant registry and a service registry serve as platform-wide databases. We ensure data isolation between tenants for the management application and ESB message flows. Furthermore, the management application can control clusters of ESB instances, retaining elasticity. These goals also involve extensions to the ESB itself, which implements the Java Business Integration (JBI) specification. As a result, an integration scenario emerged from the EU-funded project 4CaaSt was applied to the system.

Extending a multi-tenant aware ESB solution with evolution management
    (2014) Tian, Penghao
Services have been improved over time to meet the increasing demand of service consumers. A service could be changed at any state in service life cycle. An inefficient service version management with arbitrary decisions could lead to disconnections between service consumers and service providers. A service version control management system is therefore necessary. The goal of this thesis is to specify, design and implement a service evolution management system for a multi-tenant aware ESB solution, so that the ESB could have the capabilities to manage the changes of multiple service versions between service consumers and service providers in a transparent manner. Furthermore, a function should be provided to check the compatibility between service versions, and, moreover, the calculation of service identifiers should be executed automatically, because service descriptions do not contain version-related information.
