Item Open Access Abschaltung von dezentralen Erzeugungsanlagen infolge von Unterspannungen im Kontext von LFSM-O(2022) Schöll, Christian; Lehner, Joachim; Weidner, Johannes; Lens, HendrikBei einer Überfrequenz jenseits von 50,2 Hz müssen sämtliche Erzeugungsanlagen ihre in das Netz eingespeiste Wirkleistung reduzieren. In den zumeist resistiv geprägten Verteilungsnetzen der Mittel- und Niederspannung führt diese überfrequenzbedingte Leistungsreduktion zu einer lokalen Absenkung des Spannungsprofils. Unterschreiten die Spannungen die Vorgaben aus den Netzanschlussbedingungen, unter denen dezentrale Erzeugungsanlagen die Verbindung zum Netz aufrechterhalten müssen, kann es zu unterspannungsbedingten Schutzabschaltungen kommen. Theoretisch könnten diese bei großflächigem Auftreten zu einer Umkehr des ursprünglichen Überfrequenzereignisses in ein Unterfrequenzereignis führen. Anhand von simulationsbasierten Untersuchungen wird in diesem Beitrag jedoch aufgezeigt, dass unter realitätsnahen Annahmen und unter Berücksichtigung der nationalen Richtlinien sowie der zugehörigen netzplanerischen Leitplanken kein besonderes Risiko hinsichtlich der Anregung der beschriebenen Wirkungskette vorliegt.Item Open Access A Bayesian network approach to assess and predict software quality using activity-based quality models(2009) Wagner, StefanAssessing and predicting the complex concept of software quality is still challenging in practice as well as research. Activity-based quality models break down this complex concept into more concrete definitions, more precisely facts about the system, process and environment and their impact on activities performed on and with the system. However, these models lack an operationalisation that allows to use them in assessment and prediction of quality. Bayesian Networks (BN) have been shown to be a viable means for assessment and prediction incorporating variables with uncertainty. This paper describes how activity-based quality models can be used to derive BN models for quality assessment and prediction. The proposed approach is demonstrated in a proof of concept using publicly available data.Item Open Access Messungen im Bereich eines Windparks mit Fokus auf tief- und niederfrequente Schallemissionen und -immissionen(2022) Blumendeller, Esther; Gaßner, Laura; Müller, Florian; Wigger, Maayen; Berlinger, Philipp; Cheng, Po WenDie Nutzung von Windenergie wird einen entscheidenden Anteil am erneuerbaren Energiemix der Zukunft haben. Während der Stromgewinnung geben Windenergieanlagen (WEA) Schall und Erschütterungen (seismische Wellen) in die Umgebung ab, vor allem im tieffrequenten Bereich. Im Zuge des interdisziplinären Verbundprojektes Inter-Wind werden akustische Messungen zur Unterstützung psychologischer Fragebögen, kombiniert mit seismischen und meteorologischen Messungen an Windparks auf der Schwäbischen Alb durchgeführt. Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Gründe für Belästigung der Anwohner in Zusammenhang mit den Immissionen der WEA zu verstehen. Hierbei liegt der Fokus auf dem tieffrequenten (20-200 Hz) und niederfrequenten (1-20 Hz) Bereich. Akustische und seismische Messungen wurden an einem Windpark auf der Schwäbischen Alb, mit drei WEA des Typs GE 2.75-120 durchgeführt. Parallel dazu konnten Anwohner Belästigungszeiträume über eine Geräuschmelde-App dokumentieren. In diesem Beitrag wird die Umsetzung einer interdisziplinären Messkampagne im Bereich des Tegelberg Windparks und eines Wohngebäudes in Tallage in ca. 1 km Entfernung zum Windpark beschrieben. However, prior works are yet to study the link between visually encoding a visualisation in memory and recall performance. To fill this gap, we propose VisRecall++ - a novel 40-participant recallability dataset that contains gaze data on 200 visualisations and five question types, such as identifying the title, and finding extreme values.We measured recallability by asking participants questions after they observed the visualisation for 10 seconds.Our analyses reveal several insights, such as saccade amplitude, number of fixations, and fixation duration significantly differ between high and low recallability groups.Finally, we propose GazeRecallNet - a novel computational method to predict recallability from gaze behaviour that outperforms several baselines on this task.Taken together, our results shed light on assessing recallability from gaze behaviour and inform future work on recallability-based visualisation optimisation.Item Open Access A comprehensive safety engineering approach for software-intensive systems based on STPA(2015) Abdulkhaleq, Asim; Wagner, Stefan; Leveson, NancyFormal verification and testing are complementary approaches which are used in the development process to verify the functional correctness of software. However, the correctness of software cannot ensure the safe operation of safety-critical software systems. The software must be verified against its safety requirements which are identified by safety analysis, to ensure that potential hazardous causes cannot occur. The complexity of software makes defining appropriate software safety requirements with traditional safety analysis techniques difficult. STPA (Systems-Theoretic Processes Analysis) is a unique safety analysis approach that has been developed to identify system hazards, including the software-related hazards. This paper presents a comprehensive safety engineering approach based on STPA, including software testing and model checking approaches for the purpose of developing safe software. The proposed approach can be embedded within a defined software engineering process or applied to existing software systems, allow software and safety engineers integrate the analysis of software risks with their verification. The application of the proposed approach is illustrated with an automotive software controller.Item Open Access DNS of multiple bubble growth and droplet formation in superheated liquids(2018) Loureiro, Daniel Dias; Reutzsch, Jonathan; Dietzel, Dirk; Kronenburg, Andreas; Weigand, Bernhard; Vogiatzaki, KonstantinaFlash boiling can occur in rocket thrusters used for orbital manoeuvring of spacecraft as the cryogenic propellants are injected into the vacuum of space. For reliable ignition, a precise control of the atomization process is required as atomization and mixing of fuel and oxidizer are crucial for the subsequent combustion process. This work focuses on the microscopic process leading to the primary break-up of a liquid oxygen jet, caused by homogeneous nucleation and growth of vapour bubbles in superheated liquid. Although large levels of superheat can be achieved, sub-critical injection conditions ensure distinct gas and liquid phases with a large density ratio. Direct numerical simulations (DNS) are performed using the multiphase solver FS3D. The code solves the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method and PLIC reconstruction for the phase interface treatment. The interfaces are tracked as multiple bubbles grow, deform and coalesce, leading to the formation of a spray. The evaporation rate at the interface and approximate vapour properties are based on pre-computed solutions resolving the thermal boundary layer surrounding isolated bubbles, while liquid inertia and surface tension effects are expected to play a major role in the final spray characteristics which can only be captured by DNS. Simulations with regular arrays of bubbles demonstrate how the initial bubble spacing and thermodynamic conditions lead to distinct spray characteristics and droplet size distributions.Item Open Access Do code clones matter?(2009) Juergens, Elmar; Deißenböck, Florian; Hummel, Benjamin; Wagner, StefanCode cloning is not only assumed to inflate maintenance costs but also considered defect-prone as inconsistent changes to code duplicates can lead to unexpected behavior. Consequently, the identification of duplicated code, clone detection, has been a very active area of research in recent years. Up to now, however, no substantial investigation of the consequences of code cloning on program correctness has been carried out. To remedy this shortcoming, this paper presents the results of a large-scale case study that was undertaken to find out if inconsistent changes to cloned code can indicate faults. For the analyzed commercial and open source systems we not only found that inconsistent changes to clones are very frequent but also identified a significant number of faults induced by such changes. The clone detection tool used in the case study implements a novel algorithm for the detection of inconsistent clones. It is available as open source to enable other researchers to use it as basis for further investigations.
