Using these systems - artificial stones, human erythrocytes, L1210 mouse leukemia cells, multicellular spheroids, cavitation assay - we are able to elucidate the mechanisms of interaction as well as the cause of clinically observed side effects.Item Open Access Quantification of aortic stenosis based on the morphology of Doppler ultrasound signals using image processing techniques(1994) Zahn, Thomas P.; Nagel, Joachim H.; Agatston, Arthur S.A method was developed to evaluate the morphologic structure of continuous wave Doppler ultrasound signals in order to quantify aortic valve stenosis in the human heart. The systolic peaks of the Doppler signal were assigned digital images and the stability of shape information was tested for patients with low stroke volume and aortal fibrillation. The results indicate that the shape of the signal peaks remains stable despite variations in amplitude and duration. The shape information was then used to quantify the severity of aortic stenosis by optimally matching Doppler peak images to selected templates representing typical diagnostic patterns. Traditional refrigerants, e.g. R11 (CCl 3F) and R12 (CCl 2F 2), have to be replaced in course of the next few years by substances which contain less or even no chlorine, for example by R123 (C2HCl 2F 3) and R134a (C 2H2 F4) respectively. Application of new substances as working fluids in refrigeration cycles and as blowing agents in foaming of polyurethane (PUR) requires detailed information about toxicological, chemical and thermophysical properties, like latent heat of vaporization, density, boiling curve, viscosity - and thermal conductivity.Item Open Access Languages, methods, and tools for software specification(1989) Ludewig, JochenSpecification systems consist of methods, languages, and tools; the languages may be more or less formal. In this paper, the general ideas of semi-formal specification systems are presented, and some examples are shown.Item Open Access Application of parallel computing to robot dynamics(1993) Schäfer, Peter; Schiehlen, WernerIn this paper an approach for the application of parallel processing to the dynamic analysis of robots based on the multibody system method is presented. The inherent structure of the symbolic equations of motion is used for partitioning those into independent modules for concurrent evaluation. The applied strategies for parallelization include the parallel evaluation of subsystem equations and the parallel computation of the inertia matrix along with its factorization, and of the force vectors and control inputs. The implementation of the parallel structures is discussed with respect to optimal utilization of transputer resources. The presented approach yields a strong reduction of computing time and supports real-time simulations of controlled robots, which is also shown in an example.Item Open Access Zeitlich und räumlich hochaufgelöste Emissionsdaten für flüchtige organische Verbindungen und Kohlenmonoxid in Baden-Württemberg(1991) Obermeier, Andreas; Friedrich, Rainer; John, Christian; Voß, AlfredIm Rahmen des inzwischen abgeschlossenen Forschungsvorhabens "Zeitlicher Verlauf und räumliche Verteilung der Emissionen von flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen und Kohlenmonoxid in BadenWürttemberg" wurden Methoden entwickelt bzw. modifiziert, anhand derer für das Bezugsjahr 1985 stündliche VOC- und CO-Emissionen ausgewählter Emittentengruppen in Baden-Württemberg auf Gemeindeebene bzw. für Rasterflächen unterschiedlicher Größe abgeschätzt werden können. Die VOC-Emissionen wurden dabei in 17 Substanzgruppen untergliedert. In diesem Bericht werden neben den VOC- und CO-Gesamtemissionen im Jahr 1985 schwerpunktmäßig räumlich und zeitlich hochaufgelöste Emissionsdaten für eine Januar- und Septemberwoche dargestellt und erläutert.Item Open Access Metallic coordination polymers using CS2 as starting material(1987) Keller, Heimo J.; Klutz, Thomas; Münstedt, Helmut; Renner, Gerd; Schweitzer, DieterOrganic polymers with "metallic" properties have found widespread interest during the last few years. Acetylene and aniline as well as different nitrogen and sulfur heterocycles have been used as starting materials. One main problem hampering the technical application of these solids up to now is their environmental and thermal instability. Therefore, we introduced metal ions to stabilize polymeric backbones with high electrical conductivity. Because of the enormous coordination ability of sulfur to many transition metal ions we decided to use a polymeric carbon-sulfur backbone.
