Item Open Access Kosten-Effektivitäts-Analyse von Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung von SO2- und NOx-Emissionen in Baden-Württemberg für alle Emittentengruppen unter besonderer Berücksichtigung regionaler Aspekte(1989) Boysen, Barbara; Friedrich, Rainer; Mattis, Marcus; Voß, AlfredKosten und Effektivität verschiedener Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung der SO2- und NOx-Emissionen aller Emittentengruppen werden untersucht. Durch die Berechnung auf Kreisebene werden regionale Aspekte deutlich. Ein erster Schritt ist die kreisweise Ermittlung der Ist-Situation der SO2- und NOx-Emissionen im Jahr 1985. Daran schließt sich die Erstellung eines Szenarios an, das eine mögliche zukünftige Entwicklung der Emissionen unter Berücksichtigung der gegenwärtig bestehenden Umweltauflagen bis zum Jahr 2000 beschreibt. Anschließend werden Kosten und Auswirkungen von verfügbaren Maßnahmen zur Emissionsminderung ermittelt. Daraus können unter besonderer Berücksichtigung regionaler Gegebenheiten Empfehlungen für eine möglichst effiziente Politik zur Minderung der SO2- und NOx-Emissionen abgeleitet werden.Item Open Access Effects of radiation damping on particle motion in pulsar vacuum fields(1989) Finkbeiner, Bernd; Herold, Heinz; Ertl, Thomas; Ruder, HannsThe effects of radiation reaction on the motion of charged particles are studied in strong electric and magnetic fields with special attention to the vacuum near-field region of an oblique rotator. For strong radiation damping a local velocity field is derived from the Lorentz-Dirac equation, which efficiently describes the motion of electrons and positrons in the whole range of typical pulsar parameters. The velocity field makes it possible to define regions in the inner magnetosphere, where particle trapping occurs due to the radiation losses. By numerical integration of particle trajectories from the pulsar surface, regions around the magnetic poles are found which are defined by particle emission into the wave zone. The shapes of the escape regions on the pulsar surface are determined to a considerable extent by the presence of the accumulation regions.Item Open Access Pulsed high-power-sonication of concrements, cancer cells and rodent-tumors in vivo(1989) Riedlinger, Rainer E.; Brümmer, Franz; Hülser, Dieter F.Extracorporeal lithotripsy has been successfully established, based on different principles of generating and focusing the shock waves. Lithotripters have also been used to investigate the influence of shocks to cancer cells and solid tumors. With two different trans-mitters (spark-gap type XL-1 and piezo-resonance type MW 2) we applied shock waves and short high power US-pulses to suspended and immobilized tumor cells and multicell spheroids. With MW 2 significant local damage on cell spheroids in gelatin was achieved, caused by locally controlled cavitation. The results are compared to each other.Item Open Access Medical waste : risk perception and communication(1989) Renn, Ortwin; Covello, Vincent T.Risk communication, as it relates to medical waste, can be defined as any purposeful exchange of information between interested parties about the health or environmental risks of medical waste. A major prerequisite for successful communication about the risks of medical waste is trust and credibility. If people do not trust the source of the message or distrust the organization that delivers the message, the communication effort is unlikely to succeed.Item Open Access Gap junctions: correlated electrophysiological recordings and ultrastructural analysis by fast freezing and freeze-fracturing(1989) Hülser, Dieter F.; Paschke, Dietmar; Greule, JoachimThe effect of glutardialdehyde on the dynamic organization of gap junctions cannot only be seen by electrophysiological measurements where the uncoupling of cells occurs within 3 min, but also by freeze fracturing the cells. Gap junctions from unfixed cells rapidly frozen by dipping into liquid propane appear polymorphic; loosely packed and clustered plaques are found, as well as tightly packed aggregates, which are mainly found in fixed preparations. Whether these different structures correspond with different functional states, or whether they depend on the local configuration of the contacting membranes is difficult to decide. The presented results, however, support the idea of active (coupling competent) gap junctions with loosely packed channels and nonactive (permanently closed) gap junctions where the channels are tightly packed.Item Open Access A fracture mechanics based description of the pull-out behavior of headed studs embedded in concrete(1989) Eligehausen, Rolf; Sawade, GottfriedAccording to the experiments the behavior of headed studs embedded in a large concrete block and loaded in tension with the support reactions relatively far away from the anchor is controlled by stable growth of the circumferential failure crack up to maximum load. Just before reaching maximum load the area of cracked concrete is only some 25% to 30% of the whole surface of the fracture cone, which is mainly formed in the descending part of the large embedment depth loaddisplacement curve the load transferred in the cracked area is relatively small compared to the total load.Item Open Access Geräuschverhalten schaltender Wegeventile und Maßnahmen zur Lärmminderung(1989) Heisel, Uwe; Mayer, MichaelNeben Pumpen, Strom- und Druckventilen stellen schaltende Wegeventile wesentliche Schallquellen an hydraulischen Anlagen dar. Der Beitrag beschreibt die Ursachen und Mechanismen, die zur Entstehung der Schaltgeräusche führen, und stellt den Einfluß verschiedener Größen auf das Geräusch dar. Aus den Einflüssen werden Maßnahmen abgeleitet, die geeignet sind, Schaltgeräusche von Wegeventilen zu reduzieren.Item Open Access Synthese, Molekül- und Kristallstruktur des Tetrakis(trimethylstannyl)distibans (Element-Element-Bindungen ; 5)(1989) Becker, Gerd; Meiser, Monika; Mundt, Otto; Weidlein, JohannDas aus Lithium-bis(trimethylsilyl)antimonid · 2 THF[Note ][(1) THF: Tetrahydrofuran; DME: 1,2-Dimethoxyethan; TMS: Tetramethylsilan.] und Benzylchlorid dargestellte Benzylbis(trimethylsilyl)stiban 1 setzt sich mit Chlortrimethylstannan zum Trimethylstannyl-Derivat 2 um. Dessen selektive Zersetzung am Tageslicht liefert das dunkelrote Tetrakis(trimethylstannyl)distiban 4. Vergleichende Röntgenstrukturanalysen bei +20 und -120°C zeigen sowohl für die aus Benzol kristallisierende Modifikation 4a als auch für das homologe Tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)distiban 3 (+20°C: [2]), daß die bei tiefer Temperatur innerhalb der fast linearen Ketten von Sb-Sb-Hanteln eintretende Verkürzung der SbSb-Kontakte um 7 (4a) bzw. 10 pm (3) nicht wie beim Tetramethyldistiban [3, 4] zu einer Verlängerung der Sb-Sb-Bindung führt.Item Open Access Temperature dependence of the elastic constants for biaxial nematic liquid crystals(1989) Monselesan, Didier; Trebin, Hans-RainerThe elastic constants K ij of the Frank-Oseen energy density for uniaxial nematic liquid crystals depend on the Maier-Saupe order parameter S and hence on temperature. Longa et al. recently used an extended Landau-Ginzburg-de Gennes theory to expand the functions K ij(S) up to fourth order in S. Here, a similar procedure is applied for the elastic energy density of biaxial nematic liquid crystals. The three chiral and 15 achiral constants are expressed as fourth-order polynomials in the order parameter S and the degree of biaxiality T. Via the temperature dependence of the quantities S and T also the temperature dependence of the elastic constants is fixed.Item Open Access Praxisbezogene Forschung steht im Mittelpunkt(1989) Heisel, UweIm Juli dieses Jahres hat Dr. -Ing. Dipl.-Ing. K. Tuffentsammer, angetreten. Die dima-Redaktion befragte den neuen Institutsleiter, welche Akzente er in Lehre und Forschung setzen wird.
