Matrixsurrogate

Abstract

Die Matrixorganisation droht zum Fremdkörper in der organisatorischen Fitnessbewegung zu werden. Dem einstigen Hoffnungsträger in Sachen Hochleistungsorganisation wird schlankheitsbehindernde Oberkomplexität und fitneßfeindliche Innenorientierung vorgeworfen. Zahlreiche Unternehmen haben sich - zumindest offiziell - von der Matrix verabschiedet und weniger komplexe Matrixsubstitute implementiert. Bevor man sich aber ganz von der Matrix verabschiedet, sollten zur Sicherung der nach wie vor attraktiven Vorzüge der Matrix alle Optionen zu ihrer Beibehaltung geprüft werden. Neben den schlanken Varianten der Matrix-Organisation interessieren hier besonders die Matrixsurrogate. Diese verzichten zwar auf die Matrixorganisation, haften jedoch am zweidimensionalen Matrixprinzip fest. Anstelle der Matrixstruktur "im Organigramm" wird eine Matrixkultur "im Kopf" etabliert. Matrix organisation threatens to become an alien element to the "organisational fitness-program" (lean management). Its complexity and coordination efforts do not correspond with the demand for lean structures. That is why many firms have "retired" their matrix structures and have implemented subsistutes with a smaller degree of complexity. In this context the lean matrix organisation and the matrix surrogates have to be analysed. Instead of a matrix structure "on paper" a matrix culture "in the head" should be established.
