Abstract

The method of multibody systems achieved major importance in vehicle dynamics for traditional and advanced applications. In the context of concurrent engineering and advanced vehicle design, multibody formalisms represent the core of every software package for modeling and simulation. The paper presents a multibody system datamodel and the database RSYST linking software models. In detail the moduls NEWEUL for the symbolical generation of motion and NEWSIM for the simulation are considered. As an example the multibody dynamics software is applied to a van with actively controlled suspensions.
