Abstract
The effects of bilateral microinjection of TRH and melanostatin (I) into the dorsomedial are of the amygdaloid complex on intragroup behavior was studied by paired interaction tests in submissive mice. Administration of I lengthened the duration of defensive behavior and lessened sociability. TRH lessened sociability and various forms of individual behavior and sharply strengthened stereotypic grooming. Neuropharmacol. anal. showed that the effects of neuropeptides included dopaminergic and GABAergic components. Apparently, TRH and I, acting on neurons of the amygdaloid complex, modify intragroup behavior via modulation of the dopaminergic and GABAergic structures.
