Item Open Access Methodology for the systematic identification, evaluation, and management of operation-friendly energy flexibility in industrial systems(Stuttgart : Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung IPA, 2024) Tristán-Jiménez, Alejandro; Sauer, Alexander (Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Kfm.)This work proposes a methodology to systematically identify, evaluate and manage operation-friendly industrial energy flexibility measures. It is structured in three consecutive phases. In the first phase, the available industrial systems, their relevant features, and their energy consumption patterns are analysed to identify and characterise energy flexibility measures according to their functional, temporal, performance, and economic dimensions. The second phase evaluates each energy flexibility measure's technical and financial capacity to pursue relevant energy flexibility goals. The risks of implementing and utilising these measures are also assessed. In the third phase, energy flexibility measures are prioritised for implementation. Complementary, their utilization strategy is outlined by hierarchizing the energy flexibility goals to be pursued by the industrial facility. The results are summarized into a roadmap for industrial facilities to become energy flexible, enabling them to optimize their energy consumption hence becoming more competitive.
