    In 2018, 60 years after the foundation stone was laid, the University of Stuttgart Library on the City Centre campus was listed as a historical monument. Planned and built from 1958 to 1961, it is exemplary for the architecture of German post-war modernism. U.S. models and library buildings of Swiss modernism influenced the design and planning of architect Hans Volkart (1895-1965).

    60 Jahre nach Grundsteinlegung wurde 2018 die Universitätsbibliothek Stuttgart auf dem Campus Stadtmitte unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. Geplant und gebaut von 1958 bis 1961 steht sie beispielhaft für die Architektur der deutschen Nachkriegsmoderne. US-amerikanische Vorbilder und Bibliotheksbauten der schweizerischen Moderne prägten Gestaltung und Planung des Architekten Hans Volkart (1895-1965).
