Abstract
An analysis of the matter of art is given in the paper. Recent studies on initiation and wave structure of detonations in sprayed liquid-fuel-gaseous oxidizer systems are considered. The problems which require more detailed experimental and theoretical investigations are discussed. These problems are: structure of detonation waves in sprays with droplets of the diameter in the range 20 - 200 µ, detonation in dense sprays, detonations in systems with an inert gaseous or liquid diluent, pressure and impulse measurements. An effort is made to explain the high stability of the heterogeneous waves. Mixing and mass-transfer processes are analysed on the base of existing models of droplet shattering. Some preliminary conclusions are made concerning the wave structure and detonation characteristics in systems enriched with liquid fuel.
