Abstract
Chemical mechanism is suggested for coupling of oxidative phosphorylation in the redox-chain of biomembranes. On nongem metalloproteids phophate is reduced electrochemically to phosphite which in subsequent oxidation forms a macroergic bond with one of the disulphide sulphur atoms.
