Abstract
Based on the complete set of equations describing nonequilibrium states of S1 - I - S2 tunnel junctions due to the quasi particle current, distributions of electronic excitations on the S films of symmetric junction (similar films composing a tunnel junction) are calculated for arbitrary tunnel barrier transparencies for the case T < Delta, eV - 2Delta < 2Delta (eV is the applied voltage, Delta is the energy gap). Superconductivity suppression in the nonequlibrium state is considered (eV > 2Delta). A theory of generation of phonons with frequencies omega > 2Delta which accompanies the quasi particle tunneling, is suggested. The available experimental results are interpreted and new features in the distribution of generated recombination phonons are predicted.
