    Kinematics and dynamics for computer animation

    This tutorial will focus on the physical principles of kinematics and dynamics. After explaining the basic equations for point masses and rigid bodies a new approach for the dynamic simulation of multi-linked models with wobbling mass is presented, which has led to new insight in the field of biomechanics, but which has not been used in computer animation so far.

    The flora, vegetation and monuments of classical Greece

    Attica, Central Greece ("Roumeli") and the Peloponnese ("Morea") form the heart of classical Greece. In this area, the landscape, vegetation and human history are intimately associated and interwoven. All three will be given equal consideration during this excursion, where the visit of the sites of Greek Antiquity will each time provide insights into the flora of the past and present. Among and around the ruins, the different types of the characteristic sclerophyllous vegetation of the Mediterranean, including the products of its degradation by man, may be studied. The altitudinal zonation of the vegetation will also be demonstrated, e.g. on Mt. Parnassus and in the central Peloponnese where relatively undisturbed Abies forests still cover extensive areas.

    Dies ist der Tagungsband der 15. Tagung der Computerlinguistik-Studierenden (TaCoS), welche vom 3. bis 5. Juni 2005 am Institut für Maschinelle Sprachverarbeitung an der Universität Stuttgart stattfand. Die TaCoS ist eine jährlich stattfindende Tagung von und für Studierende der Computerlinguistik und verwandter Felder. Sie bietet die Möglichkeit der Präsentation von wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten, die während oder kurz nach dem Studium entstanden sind, und gibt ferner die Gelegenheit, Kontakte zu Studierenden anderer Universitäten und zu Vertretern der fachnahen Industrie zu knüpfen.
